Castello Vicchiomaggio is a 13th-century winery in the heart of the Chianti Classico region owned and run by John Matta, four-time winner of the Italian Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine and Spirits Competition. This special "Vicchiomaggio Vegan" wine from Castello Vicchiomaggio provides a fantastic violet floral punch complemented by spicy and fruity aromas of cherry jam, orange peel, vanilla, and a hint of eucalyptus on the nose.
Wine Style: Deep ruby red with purple reflexes. Hints of ripe cherry lead onto crisp berry flavours, velvety tannins carry onto a long satisfying finish on the palate.
Vegan certified and winner of a Silver Award in the 2019 Sommelier Wine Awards, this Chianti Classico is a deep ruby red color with brick red undertones. It is well developed on the nose with ripe fruit and sweet spices.
On the palate it is well-rounded. Soft tannins (for Sangiovese) fill the mouth and it is well-balanced and has a lingering flavor. Perfect to be paired with vegetable and bean stew, spicy roast parsnips, carrots, broccoli, and eggplant. These velvety tannins pairs very well with many food dishes.
