2018 Serracavallo Besidiae

Orchard, stone, and tropical notes, this is a dry white wine with a sweet, aromatic nose. The palate delivers mandarin, apricot, and golden apple fruits. Bessidae is the Latin name of Bisignano, the municipality in which this wine is produced.

Grape Varietals: Riesling, Pecorino, Chardonnay

Calabria is one of the most exciting wine regions in Italy for indigenous grap varieties, and we're so happy to have found Serracavallo!

This wine has a sweet aromatic nose with tropical notes with a faily light body and a sweet touch on the front of the palate. Unctuous with tropical flavors combined with fresh citrus and some good minerality. Medium acidity and a good length. We see a crowd pleaser coming!

About the Winery

The vineyards of his Serracavallo estate are situated in the windy hills of La Sila in the district of Cosenza in Calabria, a rugged nature reserve where large diurnal temperature differences render wonderfull supple wines.

With his wife, Flaviana Bilotti, Demetrio Stancati works on about 30 hectares of vine, 75% of the wines they produce are red wines. Most of the approximately 150,000 bottles of wine they produce yearly is for local consumption, although they do export some to local european countries, so we are extremely excited to be able to share these wines with our shop and wine club members.

Serracavallo use organic practices when producing their wines.

A visit from Serracavallo owners to NYC. We had dinner at PS Kitchen!
